Surface Memory
Surface Memory is a small project I’ve been working on while moving through Baltimore. I’ve lived here for over 10 years, and in that time, the city has shifted. Buildings closed, repainted, tagged over, torn down, rebuilt. The surfaces carry evidence of what’s been there, what’s been altered, what’s been covered or left behind. I’m thinking about how places get remembered through what remains visible, how a storefront or a wall can hold onto a version of the past even as everything around it changes.
